Happy Friday, April 24th! As I was cleaning out the chicken coop this morning and spreading manure on the asparagus bed (and then weeding the asparagus bed and feeding the weeds to the chickens), I was thinking about all of the things on my to-do list: I want to re-pot some tomatoes, plant. some cucumbers, follow-up on some phone calls, do some laundry etc....you know.
How do you decide what to work on? How do you prioritize?
It's a bit of a juggling act, really - especially now with the rearrangement of our lives during this event. Retreat. Quarantine. Plandemic. Whatever you want to call it...
And this makes me think about how it's okay to try on different ways of dealing with things - and what it looks like when we do.
It's kind of like looking at the hats we wear. And when we wear them. I love hats! And have quite a variety...
That said, I don't wear them all at once.
It's like making sense of ourselves and realizing how multidimensional we are from the BIG perspective, so we know what aspect of ourselves to bring in any given moment. I can decide which hat to wear -and when to wear it.
Know what I mean?
That being said, we are coming into new awarenesses about ourselves daily. Which is kind of like finding a hat in our closet -and not knowing how it got there. Or having someone gift us a hat - one that we might not have chosen for ourselves.
What do you do? Do you try it on? Does it fit? Can you see how someone might like it - even if you do not? Will you change your mind and love it? Just wearing a hat does not mean that you've changed your identity...it's more about recognizing that you are, in fact limitless - and can choose to wear any hat you want.
Remembering that might even free you up to trying on a hat (or a helmet, or a tiara) you would never have considered before...and wearing it somewhere completely unexpected!
You are more than the hat you choose to wear - or are currently wearing - and so is everyone else.
