Tuesday, 5.5.20. And I'm feeling a little...different.
How about you? Do you check in with yourself when you wake up?
Yes, this collective is definitely dealing with navigating extremes. I can say that because I personally am feeling the stretch physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Which is good, because, well, that is growth, yes? Are you feeling the stretch? How are you dealing with it? Have you found yourself acting, feeling, thinking, behaving differently?
Years ago, I read the poem by Portia Nelson: Autobiography in Five Short Chapters
I
I walk down the street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk I fall in. I am lost ... I am helpless. It isn't my fault. It takes me forever to find a way out.
II
I walk down the same street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I pretend I don't see it. I fall in again. I can't believe I am in the same place but, it isn't my fault. It still takes a long time to get out.
III
I walk down the same street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I see it is there. I still fall in ... it's a habit. my eyes are open I know where I am. It is my fault. I get out immediately.
IV
I walk down the same street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I walk around it.
V
I walk down another street.
We get to choose. If I've had experience falling into a hole in the street, because I've relied solely on my thinking in the past - I can now choose to go down a different street, by allowing my feelings to act as a compass, as well.
We are accessing new navigational systems; whichever filter I choose to use to view my experience is also up to me.
It can require vulnerability and courage. And yet, when I choose new and different...the stretch becomes growth. What new thing will you try today? How will you choose to be or act differently?
